Terms of Use
Last updated
These terms cover your use of the Floate app for Mac and this website. By installing or using Floate you agree to them.
Free trial
You can use every feature of Floate free for 7 days, with no account. After the trial, Floate becomes read-only: you can still open and read every note, and the files stay in your folder, but you'll need a license to write new ones.
Your license
A license is a one-time purchase of $4.99 USD. It lets you use Floate on your Mac, signed in with your account, and you can move it to a new Mac by removing the old one. It's for you personally and can't be resold or shared. We may revoke a license that was refunded, charged back or obtained fraudulently.
Payments and refunds
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record, and their terms also apply to your payment. If you have a problem with your purchase, email hello@floate.app and we'll make it right.
Your notes
Your notes are yours. They're stored as files on your Mac, and you're responsible for backing them up. We don't have a copy and can't recover them.
Updates
Floate checks for updates and installs them when you allow it. We may add, change or remove features over time.
Acceptable use
Don't reverse engineer, tamper with or work around the trial or license checks, or resell the app.
No warranty
Floate is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't promise it will be free of bugs or always available. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect damages or lost data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Floate.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and the terms in effect when you bought your license still apply to that purchase.
